live vintage cleaning workshop

You may have inherited your grandmother's heavy, reliable Kenmore, or you may have found a few for dirt cheap at a yard sale.

This calls teaches you how to get these machines cleaned up and ready for sewing!  Most vintage and antique machines need a good cleaning and lubrication, and after having the wiring checked, they are ready to get to work!

This class will be LIVE on Zoom (virtual).

This workshop covers MOST vintage and antique machines.

Excluded machines are any of the Singer Touch & Sew series, and the Singer Futura series, or any vintage machine that winds the bobbin IN the machine.

This class will cover all of the following and more:

  • removing all the covers and components of the machine

  • how to fully and properly clean the machine, both the initial cleaning and each time YOU service your machine

  • checking motor brushes, lubricating the motor

  • how to fully and properly lubricate the machine

  • how to handle known issues with certain machines

  • how to handle machines that are partially seized and not moving

  • what chemicals to use and what to avoid - it's a delicate process!

  • how to make your machine shine

  • what to look for in electrical wiring

  • how to buy machines to clean up and resell for a higher value (there's a strong demand right now!)

  • where to find replacement parts or fix damaged parts

REMEMBER... what you learn in this class can be applied to ALL vintage machines, not just the one you work on in the class.

Worried about technology?

Don't worry!  We'll have an overview on how to use Zoom in a virtual class setting before your class begins so that you will feel at ease with this learning method.  Your workshop will have a live instructor to guide you the entire way!
